New to massage?

If you've never received massage before, here is some information that may help you to prepare, and feel most comfortable:

We will have a discussion first regarding your reason for seeking massage therapy, any health issues or musculoskeletal issues you are experiencing, and your goals for the session. You will be left alone to privately undress to your comfort level, and lie down under the linens on the massage table. Most often, clients are comfortable removing all clothing or with minimal underwear, since your body will be completely covered and securely draped during the massage, with the exception of your face and head, and the area being worked. If you choose to receive abdominal massage and are female, a towel or pillowcase will be draped across your breasts below the covering sheet to ensure they remain covered during the abdominal work. If you prefer to remain clothed, modifications can be made so you can receive beneficial work.  If you feel uncomfortable at any time, or for any reason, please alert me immediately.

My preferred massage medium is skin-nourishing unscented jojoba.  Jojoba is a liquid wax ester that looks like a golden oil, and closely resembles the chemical composition of human sebum. It readily absorbs into the skin and does not clog pores.  You will not leave your session feeling "greasy."  Unless you choose one of my aromatherapy-enhanced alternatives, the environment and your massage will be fragrance-free.

To allow you to relax and clear your mind, and to allow me to focus and give proper attention to this work, I am generally very quiet during massage. There is a great deal of intuitive communication between therapist and client during a massage, but there are still times when conversation is required. I may ask you questions about depth of pressure, or alert you when I am preparing to perform some stretching or joint range of motion. Clear and honest communication is critical, before, during and after your session, to ensure you receive the greatest benefit possible from your massage. Please do not hesitate to speak up if you have a question or concern during the session.

After the massage is complete, you will be allowed private time to rise and dress, then have a brief conversation with me to review your session, ask questions, and complete the payment process. You may book another session with me at that time, or do so later via www.schedulicity.com or phone call. Since you may feel quite relaxed after your massage, please drive carefully, and remember to hydrate your body with plenty of H2O.
